Abortion in Florida: The Fight for Reproductive Freedom Continues

The Abortion Battle Didn’t End on Election Day, It Became More Urgent.

The majority of Floridians believe we have the right to make personal medical decisions, including about abortion—free from government interference. The current abortion ban is in direct conflict with the wishes, safety, and freedoms of Floridians.

In November of 2024, Floridians made it clear: politicians are never more qualified to make health care decisions than patients and their doctors. And doctors should not have to risk going to prison just to treat the patient in front of them.

Now, the work to reverse Florida’s abortion ban continues with increased urgency and commitment.

Today, too few Floridians know about our state’s near-total abortion ban. The work ahead centers around education to build support for ending the extreme ban and to ensure patients have as much information, and time, as possible to make the decisions that are best for them.

The Floridians for Reproductive Freedom Coalition, with 70+ partner organizations, continues to advocate for our freedom to control our own bodies and lives. Each day, we have a responsibility to advocate for people-centered policies, provide community support, and destigmatize reproductive health care through education and storytelling.
